A recent survey by comScore reveled an astonishing 7 points of market share growth in the US for Android. Apple's iPhone share increased slightly, but the numbers have fallen way behind Android. Android now has a third of the US market (33%) and Apple is holding at 25%.
Another survey by Businessinsider revealed similar results. Here are the details:
- Almost all of the survey participants already use smartphones
- The majority of participants use Android (51.4%), with most of the rest using iPhones (33%). Relative to recent market-share figures, Android and iPhone seem a bit over-represented and BlackBerry under-represented
- Most participants (85%) plan to upgrade to the latest, greatest smartphone in the next year or two.
- Even more -> 54.4% plan to buy an Android phone, 33.6% plan to buy an iPhone
- 55.7% of the Android users won't buy an iPhone because they hate Apple
